Super shot! Catching the moment just before the sun sets is great idea. This picture would work also with some cropping on the right; the balance between the tree and sun would improve, but the wonderful sky would suffer. I know that slide is hard to expose correctly but in the digital there's also possibility to let the ground be in total shade, if the photographer would like to. I like this shot very much!
And thanks Michael for the other shots, in the gallery. The patience you mentioned in the fern picture shows in these shots.
