Don't know much about camera, really but I found Minolta Dynax 5xi SLR manual) at the market with its Minolta lense AF24-85, whatever it means.
It this help: HOYA 82mm SKYLIGHT (that's written around the lense)

Q: what digital camera goes with that lense?

The manual Dynax 5xi works but digital is way to go in this high tech worl. I heard someone mentioned SONY but which model.

The lens works on all DSLR cameras from Konica Minolta and Sony. See the camera table. Also read the F.A.Q. list, which answers this and similar questions. HOYA 82mm SKYLIGHT is just the name of the filter that is mounted on the lens. BTW, it should be 62mm.

The 5xi is a film camera. It does not store images on cards, but on film. The card system of the 5xi is used to add functions to the camera. See the camera accessories table.

I got a 5xi from a thrift store with a Tamron 28-200mm lens. Nice feel to it-although the grip can be easily damaged (part of it came off mine).

Well, this model is now 18 years old. The rubber coatings can become brittle after such a long time.

If the cards are not required to take pictures, can I put a kodak film in it and take pictures on it? Or is there any other way to save pictures on a card?

Michael Hohner answers:
Yes, this is a film camera. Loading 35 mm film is the only way to record images. There is no way to record images electronically.

There certainly is a manual (which I don't have). But since the DB-5 only has one function (imprinting the date/time on the frame) it shouldn't be difficult to figure it out without a manual.

I just got given an 5xi, it has a sigma 28-200mm lense on it but not film or card it it. I was wondering what type of card is compatible with this camera

Michael Hohner answers:
The cards for these cameras only extend the camera with additional functions (see here). They do not store images, if that is what you're looking for.

How do you use the self-timer on this camera.on this data sheet you only say it goes of after 10 seconds but not how to turn it on

There's a drive mode button on the side door of the camera. Press it until the timer symbol appears in the display.

The date back allows to imprint the current date on the film. That's all.

I have one of these and the shutter seems to be stuck open. There used to be a Minolta repair depot in Rolling Meadows, IL, near where I live, but it is long gone. There is now an Ethiopian restaurant there where this amazing waitress named "Fatima" works. I wanted to actually take a picture of her with this camera as luck would have it. Can anybody suggest a good service place for this machine? It seems to be really excellent. Thank you.

It will probably be easier and cheaper to find a used, working 5xi. For example, I can immediately find dozens of 5xi on eBay for little money.
