16-35/2.8 ZA SSM and 70-400/4-5.6 G SSM official
September 9th, 2008 - 09:49:29 PM:
Together with the A900 Sony has also officially announced two lenses, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 16-35/2.8 ZA SSM and the Sony 70-400/4-5.6 G SSM. The user manual of the latter has already leaked out a few days ago, so there are few surprises. Now that we can see images of it we see that it has a strange new color that was not used by Sony before, a silverish white or whitish silver.

The other lens, formerly known as Large Aperture Wide-Angle Zoom, was already rumored to be a full-frame 16-35/2.8, so again, few surprises. What was not known until today is that it's a SSM lens. Sony seems to move towards an all-SSM lineup, at least for higher-end lenses.
As usual you can find data sheets of the two lenses here and here.
The two lenses will be available at the end of the year or at the beginning of next year. The list price is €1500 for the 70-400 and €1700 for the 16-35.
