hi, i was wondering if i can use a metz flash with an old minolta 500si adapter (aka SCA 3302), i think it's a minolta AF equivalent, to a normal iso hot shoe or a slave trigger like seagull SYK-6... an adapter i can't see there... regards

It's probably easier to just get the correct SCA adapter for the flash. The Metz web page has a function to find the correct adapter.

"Does not adapt"=will not support all camera/flash functions or = camera+adapter will not trigger flash at all? (although it is stated above that some functions of Min 2800AF etc are supported)
Case in mind: I've just tried FS-1100 on Maxxum HTSI Plus camera with Vivitar 285HV (has central pin only) and Vivitar MPO 600 (has the central pin + 2 more on the back of the shoe, one for TTL with Minoltas (Manual focus minoltas for sure, perhaps Maxxums 7000/5000/9000 as well) and 2nd [extra pin] for setting a camera to its sync speed) flashes. Whatever I select on the camera neither flash fires. As if there is no signal from the camera at all. Do I have a faulty FS-1100 or is this a known feature of its operation? (say, it will not trigger anything other than Min 2800AF/4000AF) The camera triggers 5400HS properly. Thanks for informative website.

I've changed the wording a bit. It simply means that this adapter is designed to work with older Minolta AF flashes only, and there's no guarantee that it works with other flashes that have an ISO flash shoe, as you see with your flashes.

Does it have to be a PC cable? The best solution is to use the Minolta OC-1100/Sony FA-CC1AM cable listed above.

In that case the Sony cable will not work. I don't know a ready-made adapter for PC-sync to Sony/Minolta flash adapter from the top of my head. Maybe Google can come up with something.

To my knowledge there is no voltage protection in these adapters, because the flashes they are intended to adapt do not use high voltages at the flash foot.

Zunächst einmal "Hut ab" zu Ihrer Arbeit mit diese Webseite. In Umfang und Wissen ist sie wohl einzigartig und hat mir schon einige Male weiter geholfen - Danke dafür.
Mein Anliegen ist Folgendes: auf der Suche im Web musste ich feststellen, dass es wohl zwei Ausführungen des "Minolta FS-1100" gab (oder gibt). Ich besitze z.B. einen Originalen mit PC-Sync Buchse (laut Aufschrift/Prägung "Minolta FS-1100 Japan"). Alle original Minolta Adapter, welche ich z.B. bei ebay gefunden habe, haben diese Buchse nicht. Mein FS-1100 unterstützt auch die Wakeup-Funktion zu meinen 4000AF Blitzen (in Verbindung mit Funk-Blitzauslösern sehr nützlich in meinem kleinen Strobisten-Studio), was ein Adapter eines Dritt-Anbieters nicht kann, obwohl äusserlich baugleich. Meine Frage ist: hatten alle originalen FS-1100 die Wakeup-Unterstützung, egal ob mit oder ohne PC-Buchse? Können Sie mir einen Dritt-Anbieter nennen, der diese Funktion ebenfalls hat (Seagull, Yongnuo, ...)?

Soweit ich das sehe war der FS-1100 mit PC-Sync kein reguläres Produkt, sondern wurde von Minolta selbst oder vom Vorbesitzer modifiziert. Ansonsten sollten alle FS-1100 gleich sein. Was die Produkte von Drittanbietern leisten, kann ich leider nicht sagen.

I think the descriptions for the FS-1100 might be misleading, as the the flash will only work in TTL mode with Minolta film cameras, not digital imaging cameras.

No, this controller is not compatible with digital cameras, and even not with all Minolta film cameras.

Connecting a HVL-F58AM and a 5400HS with cables should not be a problem. When connecting two flashes with a cable CD one of them is typically mounted on the camera. I don't know if a connected flash is triggered when the other one is acting as a remote wireless flash.

I am getting a Sony a290 camera in a few days. I have a Minolta Maxxum 2800 AF flash and a Minolta Maxxum 4000 AF flash. If I get a Minolta FS-1100 adapter will I be able to use my old Minolta flashes mentioned above with my (new to me) camera? If not, is there an adapter that you know of which would work for me, and if so, what adapter would that be? The new flashes are so expensive. It would be great if there was an adapter that would make my Minolta Maxxum 4000 AF flash work on my Sony a290 camera. Your help with this will be appreciated.
